Kelly Maria Ripa

When I was born, on October 2, 1970, in Stratford, New Jersey, my parents had no idea that I would someday become a famous actress and television host. My mom was a homemaker and my dad was a labor union president and bus driver, so I don't think that performing was in their plans for me. Growing up in Stratford New Jersey in a middle class family, I did not expect to be where I am today. The peaceful suburbs of this state were a wonderful place to grow up and provided me with a stable start in life. When I was little I enjoyed taking ballet and piano lessons. Later I was a cheerleader in high school. I attended Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees Township. I first thought seriously about acting when I was performing in my high school play, in the Ugly Duckling. While attending Camden County Community College, I participated in local theater productions. I am so glad that I took advantage of the opportunities to perform in the schools and community theater of New Jersey.

First appearing on television as a regular dancer on the show Dance Party USA, I was thrilled and amazed to be part of this teen music show. I joined All My Children in 1990 , and married my co-star, Mark Consuelos, in May, 1996. Believe it or not, this is a true example of a television romance turned into a real-life love story. We have three beautiful children; fourteen year old* Michael, ten year old* Lola, and seven year old* Joaquin. In 2003 I appeared in Hope and Faith a television sitcom that ran for three seasons . I am still very close to some of my co-stars from this show.

I currently host Live with Regis(usually barefoot), replacing Kathie Lee Gifford. I thought that she would be a hard act to follow and she was, but I really enjoy working with Regis. I started with Regis in 2001 and continued on All My Children for one more year until 2002 when I finally realized it was too much to work on both shows. I also wanted to spend more time with my family. I participated in the ABC First- Ever Super Soap Weekend, and received several nominations for 1993 and 1999 Daytime Emmy awards, I also won five Soap Opera Digest awards. I am best known for my love of shoes, and trust me, that is definitely true. I have supported the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Love our Children USA, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, and many more important foundations and charities. I started helping the Ovarian Cancer Fund when someone I knew was diagnosed with the disease.

A "Fun Fact" about me is that I was invited to Donald Trump's wedding, so of course I attended! I was also the first one in my family to try acting. One well known quote of mine is "...being funny and interesting lasts longer " (than being good looking). I am proud to say that I am three-quarters Italian and one-quarter Irish. I love working in the entertainment industry. I am so lucky to have a job that I enjoy and a loving family that supports me. My advice for the youth of New Jersey is to follow your dreams. You don't have to be related to anyone important in order to become a success. If you trust in yourself, work hard to achieve your goals, and dream big, you can succeed at whatever you choose. My advice for all the working moms out there is to stick with it and don't let your career take up all of your time.

M.R I liked when you told us that Kelly Ripa rellay wasen't born into an acting familiy. The way you wrote it sounded like Kelly Ripa's auto biography. Good Job!
